Literary Beauty

"I’m always amazed at friends who say they try to read at night in bed but always end up falling asleep. I have the opposite problem. If a book is good I can’t go to sleep, and stay up way past my bedtime, hooked on the writing. Is anything better than waking up after a late-night read and diving right back into the plot before you even get out of bed to brush your teeth?" -John Walters

LOVE reading. Although, I didn't actually start readingreading until July of 2012 when I got my Nook, the love of my life.

Abbreviations I use in my reviews:

WTS (Wrist Twitch Syndrome) - The compulsory jerking of the wrist in an effort to pitch the nook away from the body to reduce mental anguish and self inflicted bodily harm.

ERS (Eye Roll Syndrome)The act of rolling one’s eyes multiple times in a matter of mere minutes.

The severity of this syndrome tend to vary from benign eye rolls every now and then, depending on the situation and protagonist, to intense eye rolls, of which, cause the body to seize up for minutes at a time.

**Both symptoms tend to manifest as a result of naive, stupid, clueless, lovesick, rose-glasses wearing puddle-depth fucktard protagonists or an ag-on-izing storyline.

Love and Other Perishable Items - Laura Buzo I absolutely love Aussie YA. This one left my heart all achy though, but I was very pleased that this book exceeded my expectations. When I read the synopsis; I was thinking that I was going to be really mad by the end of this one but I wasn’t! I was sad though just because it was so realistic.

I know, I know. It wouldn’t have ever happened. It couldn’t have happened…I would have been very mad and disgusted if it had happened.

I had a smirk plastered on my face the entire time I read though. I’d laugh at something cute that was said, thought or written and before I could settle down I’d be cracking up again. Both Amelia and Chris are quite hilarious individuals, they are realistic, their lives aren’t perfect but they both understand that they could be much worse off and they helped each other grow as individuals, begging each other to consider another perspective and creating food for thought. I actually added the books that were referenced in this read just to get a better opinion on each of their perspectives (yes, I know they are classics and I should have already read them…but I haven’t and now I’m curious).

I was hoping that there would be an Epilogue, you know like a Pip and Estella type of meeting a few years down the line just as was pondered multiple times throughout this read. Where she would be of age and have a boyfriend and he would have a girlfriend and maybe she would be at the Uni he went to and he would be back In town visiting friends and their eyes would meet (of course the S.O.’s wouldn’t be anywhere in sight). Maybe he would approach her with a “Hello Youngster!” and pull her into a hug and they’d jump back into comfort and ease they once shared when they were around each other then they’d talk about their lives and where their paths have taken them, want happened after he left and she was forced to move forward with her life…OR maybe they both wouldn’t have S.O.’s and they could finally be together!

I wanted that closure damn it!
